As part of the NKG farming strategy it was decided to establish a large-scale Robusta coffee farm in Uganda.
After a long search that started in 1999 and thanks to the strong support of the Ugandan Investment Authority, an excellent piece of land was found half way between the great Lake Victoria and Lake Albert.
On 24 August 2001 the President of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri K. Museveni, and the Chairman of the Board of Neumann Gruppe, Mr. Michael R. Neumann, jointly inaugurated Kaweri Coffee Plantation by planting the first two coffee trees.
